Bob Saxton - Passed away last night at 10:00 pm, April 11, 2016

Bob was truly a living legend in the guitar world. Beginning in 1959, he was lead guitarist for Gene Vincent. He has also performed with Bobby Gentry and was a guest star with bandleaders extraordinaire Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. Bob also left his mark as guitarist for Patsy Cline. Other Bob Saxton exploits include a 4 1/2-hour jam session with Merle Travis, and, winning the prestigious Mere Travis Thumpicking Championship in 1995 and 1998.


He has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and has been inducted

into New York’s Country Music Hall Fame in Cortland.

Bob is respected by all for his gentle nature and infinite

guitar capabilities.


Bob Saxton, the "Honorary" Stardust Guitarist, played the

song titled "Stardust". Bob Saxton’s arrangement of the standard “Stardust” was recorded and sent into space in 2002 by NASA and the JPL team. The Comet sampling spacecraft returned on Sunday 1/15/06.
